De Angelis grabs first 2005 pole at Sachsenring

Alex de Angelis retained pole position in the second qualifying practice of the 250cc Alice Motorrad Grand Prix Deutschland this afternoon at Sachsenring. The Aprilia rider posted his fastest lap in the closing stages of the session to move back in front of Honda's Dani Pedrosa.

Defending Champion Pedrosa finished the session ahead of Jorge Lorenzo, who demoted Sebastian Porto from third on his last lap to secure the seventh front row start of his rookie season.

Hiroshi Aoyama qualified in fifth, while Japanese team-mate and Honda factory colleague Yuki Takahashi took his best ever qualifying result with sixth. Aussie Casey Stoner, who clashed with Mirko Giansanti at the end of the session and crashed, will start from seventh on the grid. Frenchman Randy de Puniet will complete the second of the grid.
