Movistar Honda's Dani Pedrosa topped the timesheets in the second 250cc free practice session at Sachsenring, ahead of provisional pole holder Alex de Angelis. Pedrosa, winner of last year's quarter litre class race in Germany, was 0.443s faster than the San Marinese who clocked an impressive 36 laps during the hour-long session.

Sebastian Porto was third fastest ahead of Hector Barbera and Jorge Lorenzo. Pedrosa's team-mate Hiroshi Aoyama, who crashed out when he was leading the race at Donington Park last weekend, was sixth ahead of Japanese compatriot Yuki Takahashi.

Aussie Casey Stoner was eighth fastest while Andrea Dovizioso and Randy de Puniet completed the top 10.
