As the MotoGP World Championship gets more and more coverage, public relations and marketing became crucial fields for the factory and satellite teams. The backing of a high profile sponsor is now a prerequisite for any team and securing a sponsorship and optimising the exposure of a team is an important task.

That's the role of Honda Racing Corporation's Chris Herring, who moved to the MotoGP scene this year as PR & Marketing Manager.
"I have been working with Honda / HRC since 1996, previously in the World Superbike Championship," explains the 41 year old Briton, from Northalleterton. "Prior to that I worked at Motor Cycle News in England – 1990 – 1995, covering trials, enduro, motocross, national road racing, TT, Grand Prix road racing and World Superbike/Supersport."

"Now I'm concentrating on PR, marketing and commercial issues for Honda Racing Corporation. It means assisting the seven HRC supported teams in the MotoGP and 250cc classes in PR and Commercial areas, but also working on existing and future sponsorships, branding and presentation of the HRC factory Repsol Honda team, assisting in media communication matters."

Herring explains that the most demanding aspect of his role is "maintaining the harmony within the factory team and the MotoGP/250cc programmes - ensuring the teams, their respective sponsors and riders are always in a position to achieve the optimum result for Honda."
