Michelin Power Race: a MotoGP tyre for the street

Michelin has a renowned reputation for making technological strides that have helped to transform motorcycle racing over the past three decades. Now the French tyre brand does the same with its latest supersport street tyre, the Michelin Power Race.

Michelin's primary reason for going racing is to transfer its race-winning technology to street tyres and the Power Race is the ultimate example of that strategy. The Power Race is the first dual-compound racing tyre approved for road use, utilising Michelin's 2CT (Two-Compound Technology) as used by MotoGP riders at some tracks. The Power Race is also made using exactly the same manufacturing technology as MotoGP tyres and features compounds that are very similar to those used in MotoGP tyres.

The Power Race's 2CT offers different compounds in the centre and shoulders of the tyre. The rubber in the centre is hard enough to withstand severe acceleration and braking forces while the shoulders feature softer rubber for the lesser stresses experienced at full lean, thereby providing better grip in corners.

The Michelin Power Race is available in three different compounds: Medium, Medium Soft and Soft. Riders can thus choose their tyres according to exactly match their intended use – according to weather conditions, track or road and so on.
