Lorenzo on top in first free practice

Spaniard Jorge Lorenzo is eager to bounce back this weekend after crashing in the last round before the summer break and made the best possible start. The Fortuna Honda rider has already sent a warning signal to his rivals by setting the best time in the first free practice session at Brno.

Lorenzo edged out fellow 250cc rookie, and factory colleague, Andrea Dovizioso - who will be eager to beat the Spaniard this weekend. Last year Lorenzo managed to beat Dovizioso at this venue by only 0.036s in the 125cc race.

Hiroshi Aoyama was third fastest with his Movistar Honda team-mate, and defending Champion Dani Pedrosa, completing an all-Honda top 4.

Aprilia's Alex de Angelis was fifth fastest ahead of Hector Barbera and Sebastian Porto. Aussie Casey Stoner, who currently lies in second position in the overall standings, was seventh fastest ahead of Randy de Puniet and Roberto Locatelli.
