Ducati Marlboro's Loris Capirossi confirmed his excellent early form by posting the best time in the final free practice session at Brno with a lap of 1'58.196. The Italian had been dominant on the first day of practice before being edged out by Valentino Rossi's late surge in the afternoon.

The reigning World Champion was fourth fastest this morning, behind John Hopkins and Colin Edwards. On the Suzuki, Hopkins demonstrated the potential of the new Bridgestone tyres with the second fastest time at the Czech track.

Colin Edwards focused on the set-up of his Yamaha M1 to improve his lap time and finished the session just ahead of his Gauloises Yamaha team-mate Valentino Rossi. Only the top four riders managed to lap in 1'58s.

Nicky Hayden was the fastest Honda rider of the session in fifth spot, ahead of factory colleague Sete Gibernau and Suzuki's Kenny Roberts Jr. Max Biaggi improved by 0.7s to move into eighth position, closely followed by Marco Melandri and Makoto Tamada.
