>Jorge Lorenzo, the winner of the 125cc race last year at Brno, is starting from pole for the third time in 2005 and from the front row for the eighth successive race. If Lorenzo wins the race he will become, at the age of 18 years and 116 days, the youngest ever winner of a 250cc Grand Prix, taking the record from Dani Pedrosa who was 18 years and 202 days old when he took his debut 250cc GP victory in South Africa last year.

>Lorenzo's pole position time is seven tenths of a second faster than the previous pole record set in 2001 by Tetsuya Harada.

>Dani Pedrosa has finished in the top six in the last twenty-three consecutive races.

>Andrea Dovizioso and Dani Pedrosa are the only two riders in the 250cc class who have scored points at the first nine races of the year.

>Casey Stoner has qualified on the front row of the grid for the sixth time in 2005.
