Lorenzo claims third pole of the season

Fortuna Honda rider Jorge Lorenzo managed to demote Dani Pedrosa from provisional pole position by posting a new lap record in the final qualifying session at Brno. The Spaniard, who won on the Czech track last year in the 125cc class, clocked a best lap of 2'02.261, beating Tetsuya Harada's 2001 pole record.

It was a tough battle for pole position between Lorenzo and Pedrosa, as the World Champion failed to reclaim the top spot by just 0.003s on his last lap. Aussie Casey Stoner will be determined to mix it up with the two Spaniards after qualifying in third position ahead of 125 World Champion Andrea Dovizioso.

Aspar Aprilia riders Randy de Puniet and Sebastian Porto will start from fifth and sixth respectively, while Alex de Angelis and Hiroshi Aoayama will complete the second row. Japanese rookie Yuki Takahashi and French privateer Sylvain Guintoli completed the top 10.
