Stoner back on the podium at Brno
Casey Stoner claimed his fifth podium of the season in yesterday's Czech GP at Brno, consolidating second position in the 250cc World Championship standings in the process.
Third was a satisfying result for Stoner after the summer break, with the Australian bouncing back after a dip in form in the previous round in Germany.
"A lot of good came out of this weekend. We put in a lot of effort, especially after the problems we've had in the past few races", said the Australian. "I'm reasonably happy with the result today, but I just thought that it could have gone a little bit better."
"We did manage to pull out some more points on third place, but unfortunately Dani pulled out some more on me which gives him a pretty big lead," explained Stoner, who is now 59 points adrift of Championship leader Pedrosa. "All in all, we were back at the front and I'm reasonably happy with the way I rode today. Over the last couple of weekends many people kind of ruled me out and it was good to show them that we're still here. I hope to get some pretty decent results towards the end of the season."
