MotoGP rights holder Dorna Sports inked a deal with the Turkish government as the new Istanbul circuit is set to host the inaugural Grand Prix of Turkey on October 23rd.

Atilla Koc, the Turkish Toursim Minister and Dorna's CEO Carmelo Ezpeleta put pen to paper last Wednesday in Ankara to make official MotoGP arrival in Turkey, in a ceremony attended by Istambul Commerce Chamber President Murat Yalcintas and various representatives of the Turkish Motorsport Federation.

The track is located on the Asian side of Istanbul, close to the newly constructed Sabiha Gokcen Istanbul Airport, and was designed by Herman Tilke the architect behind a number of modern racetracks like Sepang and Shangai.

The circuit which runs counter-clockwise is 5,333 m long with and is composed of 13 curves, of which 6 are right turns and 7 left turns.
