Porto races on four wheels at home

Sebas Porto opted to fly home for a short break ahead of the hectic World Championship run-in, the Team Aspar rider decided to recharge his batteries in a novel way – a car racing competition in his home town of Rafaela in Argentina.

The TC 2000, the premier Argentinian Championship class, contested the 100 Miles race at the oval circuit in Rafaela. Porto was one of the most high-profile guests at the event and was given the chance to get into the 2004 champion's car - a Chevrolet Astra backed by the same fuel company that supports him in the 250cc World Championship.

`They invited me to drive Christian Ledesma's car, the 2004 champion. It was only two laps, but I could appreciate the incredible technology of these machines´, explained Porto.

`It was an unforgettable experience because it was the first time that I have driven a racing car and what's more I had the excitement of doing it in my home city, Rafaela´, added the Argentine rider, who also participated in the race's parade lap.

Porto has been given an invitation to take part in the next round of the championship that will be held in Buenos Aires next month. However, he is likely to find it hard to attend due to the busy schedule of the 250cc World Championship in the coming weeks.
