Close racing at Brno

The MotoGP class race at Brno not only featured a tremendous battle for victory between Valentino Rossi and Sete Gibernau, but also some of the closest and most exciting racing of the season. The first fifteen riders across the line in the Czech Republic were covered by less than 30 seconds – only the second time it has happened in the premier category in Grand Prix Racing's 57 year history.

Below we have created a table of the races where the top fifteen riders have been covered by the lowest amount of time. Both Brno and Phillip Island feature twice on the list of five races, suggesting that both circuits serve up especially close racing. Only races that have gone the full scheduled distance have been included on the list.

Race Time covering top 15 finishers

1. Australia/2001/Philip Island 29.738 sec

2. Czech/2005/Brno 29.768 sec

3. Czech/2003/Brno 44.623 sec

4. Australia/2004/Philip Island 45.197 sec

5. Brazil/1999/Rio 45.652 sec.
