Tamada ready for home round

Makoto Tamada will be eager to bounce back at his home Grand Prix to be held at the Twin Ring Motegi Circuit this week. The Japanese rider is having a disappointing season, marred by injury and lack of consistency. However, returning to the scene of his second Grand Prix win is sure to lift his spirits.

"I was waiting with anxiety for this race," admits Tamada. "Finally 'my' Grand Prix has arrived and I am determined to get an excellent result. It will not be easy given the high level of my rivals, but I am hopeful that things will get back on the right track for me and my team. I'm sure that we'll have fun, I only want luck to be on our side."

The Japanese GP will also be the first home round for JiR's Konica Minolta Honda Team - the new Italo-Japanese outfit set up by Luca Montiron.
"It is an important race for us to be up there challenging with the top teams, Makoto is in excellent shape and the bike is going well," said Montiron. "Now is the time to get a noteworthy result in a season that has been disturbed by injuries to our rider."

"In my heart I hope to repeat the performance of last season, Makoto has everything he needs to let his talent emerge. We are at Honda's home circuit, in front of our title sponsor, Konica Minolta, and we know that Motegi represents a race in which we can not disappoint."
