Double fall for Pedrosa at Motegi

Dani Pedrosa suffered two crashes today at Motegi and was injured in several places, with both coming in the final braking zone before the tunnel. In the morning the Spaniard lost the rear end with 20 minutes remaining of the session and he was taken to the Clinica Mobile. X-rays did not reveal any fracture but he did take a hard knock to his left thumb and right elbow.

At the start of the afternoon qualifying session Pedrosa crashed at exactly the same point on the track, with his left shoulder taking the main impact. Despite the pain Dani stayed on track for as long as possible and ended the day in 14th place, almost two seconds off the time set by Hiroshi Aoyama.

"I crashed opening the throttle this morning and it was a bit strange, I think it was the rear tyre," said Pedrosa. "I couldn't go back onto the track and then in the afternoon the engine seized up. In the two crashes the bike threw me up in the air and I hit my shoulder, which is the most painful thing at the moment. The two injuries from the morning are not too bad but it is all very uncomfortable. On a positive side there is nothing broken and now I want to rest and get better for tomorrow so that I can at least improve my place on the grid. I don't think tomorrow can be harder than today".
