Yamaha reveal YZR-M1 project roadmap

On the eve of the Japanese GP, Yamaha Motor hosted a press conference for the international media to talk about the technological evolution of its championship-winning YZR-M1 prototype.

M1 Project Leader Masahiko Nakajima attended the conference alongside Yamaha R&D Manager Shigueto Kitagawa, Yamaha Racing Managing Director Lin Jarvis, Gauloises Yamaha team manager Davide Brivio, riders Valentino Rossi and Colin Edwards as well as Rossi's crew chief Jerry Burgess.

Nakajima elaborated on the main developmental goals of the 2004 YZR-M1 and the improvements the factory has made on the current 2005 version. Rossi and Edwards shared their views about the M1 technology and its importance in the rider-bike relationship.
