Dunlop takes 150th consecutive win in the quarter litre class

Casey Stoner's win in today's Marlboro Malaysian Motorcycle Grand Prix at Sepang was also Dunlop's 150th consecutive Grand Prix win in the 250cc class.

The sequence started at Suzuka in April 1996 when Max Biaggi won the Japanese GP for Aprilia. Victory number 50 came at the 1999 British GP, courtesy of Valentino Rossi, whilst the 100th was celebrated at Brno in 2002 following Marco Melandri's victory at the Czech GP.

23 riders and 3 constructors have enabled Dunlop to reach this milestone. The late Daijiro Kato made the biggest contribution to Dunlop's winning streak with a total of 17 wins, while Valentino Rossi and Max Biaggi took 14 and 13 wins respectively on the British tyres. Of the riders currently competing in the 250cc World Championship, Dani Pedrosa, Sebastian Porto, Randy de Puniet, Casey Stoner, Anthony West and Hiroshi Aoyama are already Dunlop-mounted winners.

The last non-Dunlop win in the class was Tetsuya Harada's victory at the Indonesian GP in 1996 using Michelin tyres.
