Lüthi and Kallio set for another head-to-head battle

Thomas Lüthi and Mika Kallio will continue their duel for the 125cc World Championship title in Qatar after leaving their rivals trailing with a remarkable show of consistency in the past four races.

The pair have shared first and second place in every race since the Donington Park round in July and have now opened a 50-point gap over their nearest rival Gabor Talmacsi in third place. Lüthi's most recent success at Sepang on Sunday means he leads the Finnish rider by eight points with four races remaining.

Last year's race at Qatar saw the closest ever finish in the history of the sport, with Jorge Lorenzo taking 125cc victory by less than a thousandth of a second over Andrea Dovizioso.

The highest-placed finisher last year still in the 125cc class is Spaniard Alvaro Bautista who's endured a miserable season following his switch to Honda. In 2004, he grabbed the second of his four podium finishes by taking third ahead of Mika Kallio. Back then, Thomas Lüthi took only 13th.
