MotoGP riders opt for camelpower

Several MotoGP riders swapped their 990cc 4-stroke prototypes for the local transport of choice on the eve of the first day of free practice at the Losail circuit, which hosts the Marlboro Grand Prix of Qatar.

Nicky Hayden, Carlos Checa and Olivier Jacque all enjoyed camel rides in a dedicated area of the circuit, where they also discovered various aspects of the local culture. They had a taste of the local food and saw how the oriental bread and sweets are prepared.

They were also initiated to the secrets of henna tattoo's and even had a shot at hawk hunting, wearing the relevant outfit for this traditional leisure. The MotoGP riders were joined by younger colleagues from the lower classes: Sebas Porto, winner of the inaugural 250cc Qatari GP, but also last week's race winner Casey Stoner, Andrea Dovizioso, and also 125cc stars Thomas Lüthi, Mika Kallio and Mattia Pasini.
