Sete Gibernau has posted the quickest time of the warm-up session held this morning at Losail ahead of the 22-lap Marlboro Grand Prix of Qatar. The Movistar Honda rider, who will be chasing his first MotoGP win in a year this afternoon, clocked a best lap of 157.991 to top the timesheets in front of team-mate Marco Melandri and World Champion Valentino Rossi.

Carlos Checa was fourth fastest ahead of Colin Edwards and Max Biaggi, while pole position holder Loris Capirossi was seventh fastest just in front of Nicky Hayden. Shane Byrne, who is currently standing in for the injured Troy Bayliss, suffered a highside in the closing stages of the session.

The 250cc warm-up saw Casey Stoner set the best time ahead of Alex de Angelis, Hector Barbera and Andrea Dovizioso, while poleman Jorge Lorenzo was fifth fastest with defending World Champion Dani Pedrosa just behind him in sixth.

Gabor Talmacsi was the fastest in the 125cc class, setting a quickest time of 2´10.269 with Derbi´s Czech charger Lukas Pesek in second. Pole-setter Mika Kallio was third fastest, 0.380s adrift of Talmacsi. Aprilia riders Sergio Gadea and Mattia Pasini were fourth and fifth respectively, while Championship leader Thomas Lüthi was only eleventh.
