Dovizioso: "Pedrosa has lost his focus"

In Qatar, Andrea Dovizioso was back on the podium for the first time since the Catalonian GP in June after snatching third from defending champion Dani Pedrosa following a strong late charge. The Team Scot rider, a rookie in the 250cc class and last year's 125cc World Champion, wants to end the season on a high and put a up a good fight against title contenders Pedrosa and Casey Stoner.

"I'm pleased to have beaten Pedrosa, even if I would have liked to have fought against Stoner for the win," said Dovizioso. "The Spaniard seems to be under tremendous stress and he has lost his focus. That helped me in a way. His bike might not have been as competitive as usual, but it was more or less like mine. On the last lap, I gave it everything and really pushed into that last corner and made the most of the slipstream to beat him on the line."

Although he's currently 53 points adrift of second-placed Stoner in the overall classification, the Italian is determined to challenge the Australian right up until the very last round of the season.

"There was no way I could follow Stoner's pace, in practice he was already four or five tenths faster than me. If I had made a good start and tailed him from the off it might have been possible, but it would have been very difficult anyway. It doesn't mean that I'm giving up, I will do all I can to beat Stoner in the Championship. It will be tough as he's in top form at the moment, but it's not impossible."
