De Angelis eager to finish season on a high

With only three rounds left to go, Alex de Angelis is determined to finish the season on a high. The San Marinese is now aiming to clinch third in the championship after performing well in the second half of the season and, despite crashing in Qatar, he's more positive than ever.

"I think we started from solid grounds at the start of the season, and since then I have evolved as a rider," said the Aprilia man. "I'm getting faster every time and I have proved that I can fight for leading positions. In Japan, apart from the final clash, it was one of the most evenly-contested races when I fought equally with Pedrosa."

"Now I'm aiming for my first GP victory. I think I'll have a chance in Australia, last year I took second and this time I want to do better. I want to get the best possible result so I can move up in the Championship table. When the season began my aim was fifth overall, but seeing how things have gone lately I want to do better than that, I'd like to finish in the top three. If I don't make any mistakes I know it's possible. There's only the unknown of Turkey as nobody has ever raced there."

"Now I believe Stoner has the upper hand and, as his factory colleague, I have to root for him. Pedrosa was very strong in the first half of the season and had a huge lead. But now Stoner seems better. It's going to be a good fight."

"Nobody's racing in the World Championship to make up numbers. I want to win and I think next year will provide me with a good opportunity to challenge for the title. We can look for a top three overall classification this year, but we'll aim higher next year and I'm sure I will be able to further improve with my team and with Aprilia."
