MotoGP Academy's Bradley Smith takes first win

British rider Bradley Smith, one of the youngsters of the MotoGP Academy, scored his first Spanish 125cc Championship win on Sunday at the Albacete track.

Having started from the front row, the Briton quickly escaped the pack with his MotoGP Academy colleague Efrén Vázquez before shaking the Spaniard off his tail to take a dominant win. He ended up 4.6 seconds ahead of former GP rider Stefano Bianco who managed to demote Vázquez to third in the late stages of the race.

Fourth was Italian Roberto Tamburini, followed by Jules Cluzel, the MotoGP Academy's Frenchman, who came back from injury to take fifth ahead of German counterpart Joshua Sommer. Briton Kev Coghlan secured another top ten finish beating Championship leader and GP rider Mateo Túnez into ninth.

The next round of the Spanish 125cc Championship will take place at Valencia on November 20th.
