Candice Scott is making her Grand Prix debut this weekend at Phillip Island as a wildcard in the 125cc class. The 20 year-old from Hornsby is a regular in the Australian Championship riding a RS125 Honda and is thrilled with the opportunity to try her luck in a World Championship event.

"Riding in the Grand Prix at Phillip Island is one of the best experiences of my life, but it's really tough, the other riders are very quick and really strong," said Scott, who will try to secure a spot on the grid this afternoon in the final qualifying session. "I still have a lot to learn to improve, but I believe that being a woman doesn't matter when it comes to riding. It gets me great support, even from my rivals!"

Scott will seek inspiration from her idol, and fellow Australian, Casey Stoner as she bids to qualify and follow in the footsteps of other female competitors such as Katja Poensgen, who used to ride in the 250cc series, and former 125cc riders Marketa Janakova, Taru Rinne, Daniela Tognoli and Tomoko Igata.
