Red Bull KTM's Mika Kallio was the fastest rider in the first practice session ever held at the brand new Istanbul Park circuit. On Friday morning, the Finn put in a best lap of 2'05.571 in cold conditions, (8ºC air / 6ºC ground), to top the timesheets ahead of Spaniard Sergio Gadea (Master Aspar) and title rival Thomas Lüthi (Elit Grand Prix), the current championship leader by 12 points.

Totti Top Sport NGS' Mattia Pasini completed the session in fourth ahead of Hector Faubel and privateer sensation Angel Rodriguez. Italian rookie Lorenzo Zanetti was seventh fastest ahead of Tomy Koyama, while Raffaele de Rosa and Mike di Meglio completed the top 10.
