Interesting facts and figures ahead of the race

> Thomas Luthi starts from pole position for the fifth time this year. On each of the four previous occasions he has been on pole he has gone on to win the race.

> Following his win in Australia, if Thomas Luthi takes the win in Turkey he will end a record sequence of fifty-three races without a rider in the 125cc class winning back-to-back races, since Arnaud Vincent won at Donington and then Sachsenring in 2002. The last Honda rider to win back-to-back races in the 125cc class was Masao Azuma at the last race of 2000 and first race of 2001.

> Hector Faubel will start from second place on the grid, his best ever qualifying result.

> Mika Kallio is starting from the front row for the twelfth time this year.

> Mattia Pasini starts from the front row for the eleventh successive Grand Prix.

> Sergio Gadea will be starting from fifth place on the grid, his best qualifying result of 2005.

> KTM are currently leading the constructor's championship and will win the title if any KTM rider finishes third or higher and in front of all the Honda riders in Turkey. This would be the first time since Derbi won the constructors title in 1988 that has been won by a manufacturer other than Honda or Aprilia.

> Aprilia riders have not won in the 125cc class since Mattia Pasini did so in Catalunya. This eight race barren spell is the longest for the Italian factory in the 125cc class since the 1998/99 season.
