Pole setter Sete Gibernau (Movistar Honda), who will be aiming for his first win since last year's Qatari GP this afternoon, was back at the top of the timesheets this morning in Istanbul in the warm-up session. The Spaniard moved ahead of Valentino Rossi (Gauloises Yamaha) in the dying seconds of the session, while Nicky Hayden (Repsol Honda) was third quickest just ahead of Marco Melandri (Movistar Honda).

Alex Barros (Camel Honda) clocked the fifth best time and was followed by Ducati Marlboro Carlos Checa, the best Bridgestone runner of the session. Rossi's team-mate Colin Edwards was seventh fastest with Max Biaggi, Toni Elias and Makoto Tamada completing the top 10.

In the 250cc class, World Champion Dani Pedrosa set the best time with a lap of 1'57.546, ahead of Aprilia riders Casey Stoner and Alex de Angelis, who will start from pole position this afternoon. Jorge Lorenzo was fourth quickest with Andrea Dovizioso just behind him.

Having qualified in third position on the grid for the 125cc race, Red Bull KTM's Mika Kallio was the fastest rider in this morning's warm-up session. The Finn produced a lap of 2'03.944 to complete the session ahead of Frenchman Mike di Meglio (Kopron Racing World). Aprilia riders Sergio Gadea and Mattia Pasini took third and fourth respectively, ahead of pole holder and title favourite Thomas Lüthi.
