Turkish delight for Stoner

Casey Stoner scored his fifth win of the year having led from start to finish in Turkey to take victory ahead of World Champion Dani Pedrosa at the Istanbul Park circuit.

The Aussie grabbed the holeshot and quickly pulled away from the field as poleman Alex de Angelis battled for second with Hiroshi Aoyama, Andrea Dovizioso and Pedrosa. By lap 14, Pedrosa was back on the tail of Stoner but waited until the very last lap to try to grab the lead. Despite being under pressure, Stoner put in a flawless last lap and ultimately crossed the line less than a tenth of a second ahead of the Spaniard.

Behind them the battle for third saw Aoyama and de Angelis going head-to-head in the late stages of the race, but the San Marinese crashed out at the last corner - rejoining to finish seventh - leaving Aoyama to take his fourth podium of the season.

Lorenzo secured fourth after a full-on tussle with Honda factory colleagues Dovizioso and Barbera. Behind de Angelis, Roberto Locatelli and Sylvain Guintoli took eighth and ninth respectively, while Briton Chaz Davies completed the top 10.
