Hayden braced for final charge

After taking his third consecutive podium - the fifth of the season - in Turkey, Repsol Honda's Nicky Hayden is currently third overall in the Championship, just nine points adrift of Marco Melandri.

Although his Italian rival seems to have hit top form, the American is determined to make one final big push for the runner-up title this weekend at Valencia.

"Valencia is a track I have gone well at in the past, but have never finished the race there in the last two years," explained Hayden. "On both occasions I have got caught up in it being the last race of the year. I just let it all hang out and unfortunately crashed both years going for it. So I guess this year will be no different other then we want to finish. Marco pulled some big points last week but we won't quit till the flag flies on Sunday. We came back from a bad start to the season, but it ain't over yet!"
