Kiyonari joins Camel Honda for season finale

Japanese youngster Ryuchi Kiyonari will deputize for the injured Troy Bayliss this weekend at Valencia as the Australian has failed to recover in time for the last round of the 2005 World Championship.

Kiyonari, who recently finished second overall in the Bennetts British Superbike Championship, already has experience of the RC211V Honda having ridden for the Gresini Honda team after the death of Daijiro Kato in 2003.

"It was a great surprise to be called up to ride in the last race of the MotoGP Championship with Camel Honda," said the 23 year-old. "I don't think it will be too difficult to get used to this version of this RCV, I believe I can find the right feeling again after spending the year riding a Superbike. I really like the Valencia circuit and I hope to have a good race."

Camel Honda team manager Sito Pons said: "It's a shame that Troy can't be with us for the last round of the season, on a track he managed to get a great podium at last year. On the other hand, it's nice to give this chance to another young rider like Kiyonari, who has already ridden in MotoGP and who knows the track and the bike."
