World Champions in traditional photoshoot

Valentino Rossi (Yamaha Factory Racing), Dani Pedrosa (Movistar Honda) and Thomas Lüthi (Elit Grand Prix) gathered at the end of the Gran Premio betandwin.com de la Comunitat Valenciana for the traditional photoshoot of the World Champions of the MotoGP, 250cc and 125cc classes.

Only the 125 Championship was still to be decided today at the Ricardo Tormo circuit, as Rossi and Pedrosa had already successfully defended their respective titles before the 2005 season finale at Valencia. The Yamaha rider had secured his fifth consecutive title in the premier class by finishing second in Malaysia, while Pedrosa clinched the third title of his career by winning in Australia as title rival Casey Stoner crashed.

In the 125cc class Thomas Lüthi opened a new chapter for Swiss motorcycling, following in the footsteps of 1966 champion Luigi Taveri by taking the crown. Lüthi only needed nine points to clinch the title and a steady ninth position in Cheste allowed him to maintain his advantage over Finnish rival, and eventual race winner, Mika Kallio.
