Toni Elias enjoyed a satisfactory debut on the Honda RC211V on the first day of the Valencia test. The young Spaniard insisted after his first session on board the Honda MotoGP machine that he had enjoyed himself and felt comfortable on the bike he will race for Fausto Gresini's team next season.

The Fortuna Honda rider admitted that the weather had not helped his adaptation to the bike despite the fact he managed to get in 34 laps of the Ricardo Tormo circuit.

"My first outing on the bike was quite satisfactory, I felt good. Despite not having been able to lap for too long because of the weather, I have to say I adapted well to the characteristics of the RC211V which is a very manageable bike and easy to handle," Elias stated.

"There is still a lot of work ahead but I am really keen to get started. Right from the start I have felt very comfortable with the team, I really do feel at home. It's a very professional team with great organisation and I'm sure we'll achieve great things together."

The Catalan's new team-mate, Marco Melandri, spent very little time out on the track on Wednesday, completing just eight laps. The World Championship runner-up, who was the surprise package of the 2005 season, was another frustrated by the bad weather which disrupted his plans for the session.

"We had an intense session with Michelin set up, but the weather did not let us carry it out. It was a real shame as we have lots of work to do," declared Melandri. "We were hoping to try a new type of Michelin tyre, but we'll have to wait now."

The new pre-season test for the Fortuna Honda MotoGP team will be on the 28th,29th and 30th on November at the Malaysian circuit of Sepang.
