Vermeulen hails the GSV-R

Chris Vermeulen will be one of the rookies of the premier class in 2006 having joined Team Suzuki MotoGP after a successful season in WSBK. Much will be expected of the young Australian who had an impressive two-race stint with the Camel Honda team at the end of last season. Vermeulen got his Suzuki career underway at the Valencia test being held this week, climbing aboard the GSV-R V4 prototype for the first time.

Despite poor weather conditions on Wednesday, Vermeulen was pleased with this first run on the Japanese machine he will race next year alongside John Hopkins.

"I really enjoyed my first go on the bike. It made a lot of difference getting on the bike on Monday with the bad weather conditions as they are," said Vermeulen. "My first impressions are that the bike is very easy to ride and very comfortable. I really enjoyed working with the mechanics, they all have a lot of experience and they're very methodical and really know what they are doing. We have a lot of work still to do but I am sure we can move in the right direction. I'm having fun, despite the weather!"
