Pasini eyes title push with Aspar

Mattia Pasini will spearhead the Aspar Team's challenge in next year's 125cc World Championship as they bid to steal the crown from reigning champion Thomas Lüthi. The Italian signed with the outfit managed by former World Champion Jorge Martinez Aspar last week after a promising season with the Totti Top Sport outfit. Pasini, who clinched the 'Rookie of the Year' title in 2004, scored two wins this year and finished fourth overall.

Pasini will continue his 125 career on Aprilia machinery and has already set his sight on the 2006 title.
"I'm really looking forward to starting work with my new team," he stated. "The end of the 2005 season was positive, but my target for next year is to become World Champion. We came very close this year, but I trust Aprilia to give us great support again next year."

The Aspar outfit is made up of two 125cc teams, one formed by the Spanish duo of Hector Faubel y Sergio Gadea, while the other will see Pasini join Spanish youngster Mateo Tunez, who looks set to clinch the Spanish 125cc title.

"We have very high aims for next year. I believe we are serious title candidates. We'll do everything from day one in order to win the Championship," added Aspar, a former 80cc and 125cc World Champion.
