Amatriain: "Lorenzo and Barbera will fight for the title"

Having switched to Aprilia, the 250cc Fortuna Racing team is looking forward to mount a serious title challenge in 2006, with a promising duet formed by Jorge Lorenzo and Hector Barbera. After their first test of the winter held at Valencia, team-manager Dani Amtriain talked about the move from Honda to Aprilia and his targets for next season.

"This move is very positive for us, because we believe that we will have the potential and the support from Aprilia to fight for the title," said Amatriain. "Our aim is to get our package ready as soon as possible, as the pre-season will be pretty long, we have a lot to do and we want to start the season in the best possible condition."

"We are candidate for the title for sure, not only with Lorenzo, as I think that Hector Barbera will also have a shot at the title. We have all the elements required to be one of the most competitive outfit of the class, but we can't overlook other riders and teams who will be very strong and who will do everything they can to be ready for next year."

The team will head to Jerez next weekend, as they planned a three-day test beginning on Monday. On this occasion, Jorge Lorenzo and Hector Barbera will work alongside Alex Debon, the new Aprilia factory test rider.

"In the first part of the pre-season, the riders just need mileage to get to know the bike. After the Jerez test, we plan to go to Valencia in decembre, and depending on the weather, we'd like to do the final test of the year in Almeria."
