Bradley Smith takes second win in Spanish series

MotoGP Academy youngster Bradley Smith climbed on the first step of the podium for the second time this year in the Spanish 125cc Championship, taking victory at the Ricardo Tormo track near Valencia this weekend, in the penultimate round of the series.

Smith started from the front row and immediately pulled away to take a lights-to-flag win in tricky conditions, as overnight rain meant that the riders had to cope with little grip. The conditions were bad enough to force poleholder Thomas Lüthi, who had secured the 125cc World Title at the same track earlier this month, to step down from the event.

Honda-mounted Spaniards Pol Espargaró and Esteve Rabat completed the podium, while sixth place was good enough for Italian Stefano Bianco to take the Championship lead with two points ahead of GP regular Mateo Tunez.

Riding for the Ajo Motorsport team, Briton Dan Linfoot – the ACU runner-up - clinched an encouraging ninth place.
