Lorenzo leads the way at windy Jerez

Jorge Lorenzo proved to get quickly used to his new 250cc Aprilia machine as he posted the best time of the first day of testing today at the Jerez circuit, in Spain. The Fortuna Aprilia rider clocked the best of the 63 laps he completed in 1'45.3, topping the timesheet ahead of his team-mate Hector Barbera.

Working on the 2006 version of the RSW 250, Alex de Angelis was third fastest and completed 68 laps, just as much as Aprilia's new boy Marco Simoncelli, coming up from the 125cc class.

250cc times:
1. Jorge Lorenzo - 1'45.3 - 63 laps
2. Hector Barbera - 1'45.5 - 58 laps
3. Alex de Angelis - 1'45.6 - 68 laps
4. Marco Simoncelli - 1'47.0 - 68 laps

Amongst the 125cc riders, Pablo Nieto was the fastest as he was making his comeback to Aprilia machinery after a lacklustre stint with Derbi this year. The Spaniard lapped in 1'50.3 to finish the day ahead of Derbi's Lukas Pesek and Nico Terol.

125cc times:
1. Pablo Nieto - 1'50.382
2. Lukas Pesek - 1'50.722
3. Nico Terol - 1'51.367
4. Raffaele de Rosa - 1'52.037
