Team Aspar confirm De Angelis for 2006

Aprilia rider Alex de Angelis has joined the Aspar 250cc team, completing Jorge Martinez's line-up for the 2006 season with his outfit entering teams in both the 250cc and 125cc classes next year.

De Angelis will be the fifth Aspar rider with the Valencia-based team having announced a few days ago that Mattia Pasini would join the 125cc team alongside Héctor Faubel, Sergio Gadea and Mateo Túnez.

"I think the 2006 line-up is definitely a winning team because we have experienced riders in the shape of Mattia, Héctor and Gadea in 125cc and de Angelis in 250cc, whilst for Túnez this will be another learning year although I think he will give us more than the odd good race," said Jorge Martinez 'Aspar'.

De Angelis, who signed a two-year deal with Aprilia before the end of the season, is confident about his new venture with the Aspar team.

"Next season will be my third in the category and the second time that I have worked with the Aspar Team," said the San Marinese rider. "Personally, I have always had a good relationship with the team and with Jorge. From a technical point of view I can't say anything yet because we haven't had the chance to work together, but I think they did a good job in 2005."

"I still haven't considered my objectives for next season, first of all I have to get to know the technical staff, complete the first tests and then start to set some clear goals. There will clearly be a lot of rivalry and quality within the class, but right now we are in good shape to run at the front."
