Ducati duo put in the miles on the GP6

Ducati Marlboro riders Sete Gibernau and Loris Capirossi continued to work on the new Desmosedici GP6 on Tuesday at Jerez, making the most of a sunny yet cold day at the Spanish venue.

If testing was infrequent on the first day due to the humidity, both riders had an intense day of work on Tuesday, Gibernau and Capirossi completing 66 and 61 laps respectively, testing new Bridgestone tyres and new Ohlins suspensions.

Gibernau, Ducati's new signing for 2006, clocked the best lap of the day in 1'41.466 while Capirossi finished the day just 0.023s adrift of his team-mate.

"Today we focused on the set-up of the suspensions and the cycle part," said the Spaniard. "It was useful so we know what we need to improve the feeling with my new bike. We have taken a first step forward, I believe we are headed in the right direction. Tomorrow, we'll be able to work on the engine mapping."

250cc riders Sebastian Porto and Andrea Dovizioso also tested at Jerez today. Former Aprilia man Porto carried on his adaptation to the 250cc Honda and posted his fastest time of 1'44.906, while Dovizisio, a former 125cc World Champion and the best rookie in the 250cc class last season, lapped in 1'45.282.

Testing at Jerez will conclude tomorrow and this last and third day of work at the Spanish venue will mark the end of the year for the Ducati Marlboro riders as the MotoGP teams are not allowed to test from the 1st of December to the 20th of January.
