Michele Pirro will race with the Semprucci Team next season, a new challenge that will allow him to get back on an Aprilia 125 after a disappointing season in 2005 with Malaguti.

The Italian rider debuted on his new mount at the Jerez test last week and, provided he is granted confirmation, could continue testing at Valencia this week.

"I am very happy both with the bike and the team," Pirro stated. "I am very grateful for this new opportunity with a very professional group of people and with a fantastic Aprilia bike."

"The first thing I noticed about the bike was the chassis, it was very impressive and I liked it from the start. It's better than the last one I tested when I rode for Aprilia in 2004. Although I was riding Dario Giuseppetti's bike at Jerez which had the 2005 chassis I must say I was very happy with the performance of the bike. I found it quite touch physically at Jerez because I had not been on a bike for two months, but I enjoyed myself a lot and that made me happy."

In 2005, the best result Pirro could manage for the Malaguti Reparto Corse Team was a 13th position in Shanghai. "Last season was quite disappointing for me. Although Malaguti made a big effort, things did not go as we had hoped. It was a shame because I had just won the European Championship and I was hoping for a much better season."
