Lorenzo breaks collarbone at Valencia

Fortuna Aprilia rider Jorge Lorenzo has fractured his collarbone after a crash at the Ricardo Tormo circuit near Valencia where the official Aprilia riders have been testing since Wednesday. The Spaniard, who had posted the fastest 250 times on the first two days, fell at the Champi Herreros corner which leads into the final section of the circuit.

The left collarbone that Lorenzo has broken already has a titanium plate inserted in it following the accident he suffered earlier in the year at the Catalunya Grand Prix. After receiving treatment from the medical staff at the track, the Mallorcan rider was transferred to Barcelona where he is likely to undergo surgery.

Lorenzo was not the only rider to suffer serious injury at the three-day test as Marco Simoncelli also broke a collarbone, his right, after a tumble on the second day. The Italian was seen to by Dr Costa after returning to Italy for treatment.
