Riders for Health 2005 campaign

Riders for Health 2005 campaign

For several seasons now, the MotoGP paddock has been working closely with the Riders for Health charity, which develops a sustainable transport system in Africa as a means of mobilising medical care in the poverty-stricken region.

With its roots in the world of motorcycle racing - former GP star Randy Mamola being one of its co-founders - the group fundraises at motorcycling events to raise money for pioneering field initiatives which involve sending in-country teams to develop efficient and cost-effective techniques for the management of two and four-wheel vehicles in harsh and barren African terrain.

The Day of the Champions, held twice a year on the eve of the British GP and the Valencia GP, became a regular fixture of the MotoGP World Championship, allowing the fans, the riders and the teams to give a hand to Riders for Health by raising funds through various activities, from memorabilia auction to rides on the GP circuits.

motogp.com now offers you some footage of various events held organized throughout the season and during the Days of the Champions, but also a couple videos to learn more about Riders for Health.
