German GP to stay at Sachsenring until 2011

The Motorrad Grand Prix Deutschland, (the German GP), is to stay at the Sachsenring circuit beyond the 2006 season, MotoGP rights holder Dorna Sports and ADAC have confirmed.

The event has been held at the Sachsenring circuit since 1998 with interest and attendances rising every year. It was with that in mind that the decision was taken to prolong the existing agreement and Carmelo Espeleta, CEO managing director of Dorna Sports and Hermann Tomczyk, sports director of ADAC Munich, have now signed a deal that runs until 2011.

Modifications and improvements have been carried out on the Sachsenring recently which have made it one of the most modern and safe circuits on the MotoGP calendar. Each year the German GP creates more than €15 million in revenue making it not only a key event for German race fans who travel to their ‘mecca of motorcycling', but also for employment and economy in the region.
