Checa confident of 2006 plans

Although he is still waiting for the Honda Pons team to confirm their sponsorship deals and final plans for next season, Carlos Checa is confident that agreement will be struck in the coming weeks and that he will lead the challenge of Sito Pons' team in 2006.

On his personal website, Checa has sent a Christmas message to all his fans that is filled with optimism for next season. Without going into detail about the possible consequences that the arrival of Lucio Cecchinello's team in the MotoGP class could bring for Pons and his outfit, Checa insisted that he would still be lining up in the premier class next season.

"Regarding the present, and what is happening at the moment, the only thing that I can say is that I don't have too many doubts about my future but that I am still waiting for confirmation. I have every confidence in Sito and know he will do what is best and right for everyone," Checa stated.

Checa is maintaining his fitness programme ahead of the new campaign to ensure that he is in peak physical condition when the test schedule resumes at the end of January. As always, the Spaniard is doing lots of work out in the open air and is confident he will be ready as and when his work-load recommences.

"Besides competing, results and other things like that, the most important thing at this time is to enjoy time with your family and loved ones, clear your mind and relax as much as possible. I am achieving this, and keeping myself fit, but enjoying my main passion; climbing. I have a varied programme of activities so that I don't get bored when I'm not spending time with my family."
