Donington Park to warm-up with traditional ‘Day of Champions'
Riders for Health Day of Champions, the annual charity curtain-raiser to the betandwin.com British Grand Prix, will take place on Thursday, offering the opportunity to the public to sample a taste of the unique atmosphere of the MotoGP World Championship.
The Xtrem Trials show will kick-off the festivities at 10.30. The fans will also have to opportunity to bet in an special auction to win one of the four much coveted sits made available for the traditional pre-event press conference, which will be attended by MotoGP star Valentino Rossi, Honda's new ace Nicky Hayden, Ducati's Carlos Checa, Aussie Troy Bayliss and local hero Shakey Byrne.
At 11.00, the traditional Super Anorak quiz hosted by BBC presenters Steve Parrish and Suzi Perry will start on the infield stage. Meantime, there will be coach rides on the track, from Goddard's gate, with all rides hosted by well known race personalities.
There will be various on track activities, with sidecar rides with top British Champions, but also the spectacular 200-bike ‘ride-in' which will arrive from Coalville, a track stunt show by Sunny Ferguson and the Riders Rally Challenge, which will see the Riders team of Randy Mamola, Jeremy McWilliams and Niall Mackenzie taking on the Rally team of David Lapworth, Chris Atkinson and Billy Gwynne.
There will be various auctions and meeting points with riders throughout the day, including the MotoGP auction hosted by Eurosport commentator Toby Moody, giving the opportunity to the public to grab a piece of MotoGP gear.
