Tamburini and Baldolini join Matteoni Racing
The 2006 Matteoni Racing team will be formed by Roberto Tamburini and Alex Baldolini, riding in the 125cc and 250cc classes respectively.
"I'm sure that Roberto is one of the most promising youngsters of his generation," said team manager Massimo Matteoni. "He has demonstrated on various occasions that he has huge potential, as he proved during an Italian Championship round at Misano where he dominated the race with the class of a true champion. Roberto could be the surprise of the 2006 season. On the other hand, in the 250cc Championship we'll have Baldolini, a rider I know well. Our target should be to finish regularly in the top 15."
14 year-old Roberto Tamburini already has three Italian and Europeans titles in the lower classes. He also shone on the 125cc Spanish Championship scene, taking 11th overall last year and 6th overall this season.
Alex Baldolini, who had made his GP debut in 2002 in the 125cc class, was only 18th in this year's 250 World Championship final standings after a disappointing season with the Campetella team.
