Rolfo leaves MotoGP for WSBK

Roberto Rolfo will join the WSBK pack for the 2006 season after failing to secure a ride in the MotoGP World Championship, as he was contracted last week by Scuderia SC Carrachi. After a MotoGP apprenticeship season with a Ducati Desmosedici GP04, Rolfo will go on to defend the Italian firm´s colours riding the Ducati 999F05 in the production-based series.

Rolfo was expected to continue his career in the premier class with the D'Antin Pramac team until Luis d'Antin eventually signed José Luis Cardoso and Alex Hofmann for 2006. In any case, Rolfo now looks forward to next season as he will begin testing on his new machine later this week at the Valencia circuit.

"I'm pleased with this deal. After a season of learning in the MotoGP class with the Desmosedici GP4, I'm happy to be back on a 4-stroke machine, and it's a Ducati again!" said Rolfo. "On the other hand, I'm confident that I will have the support of a very experimented team and that I will work with people who know the Ducati very well."
