Angaia Racing will make 250cc debut with Danese in 2006

The Angaia Racing team will face a new and exciting challenge this season, taking part in the 250cc category, in conjunction with Italian rider Michele Danese.

The team made their debut in the Word Championship in 2000, and have been competing since then in the 125cc category with two official Honda bikes. Last season they aligned themselves with Italian rider Federico Sandi and Japanese Toshihisa Kuzuhara.

Angaia Racing have chosen the 23 year old Danese for this adventure in the quarter litre category, a rider who is relatively inexperienced in Grand Prix racing. He made his debut in 2003, filling in for Petr Lenard for the last five races of the season. In 2004 he took part in the Italian 125cc GP, and last season he made his first appearance on a 250cc bike in Holland.

Paolo Tajana, the team boss, has described his enthusiasm for this new era for the Italian outfit. ´It is a very important step. We haven't set any particular goal for next season, seeing as the 250cc category is completely new to us, and the only thing that we expect is that we do well´.

On the subject of when we would get our first glimpse of the team´s capabilities, Tajana said:

´We can´t wait to start this new adventure. Our first test is still to be confirmed, but we are confident of being ready to start at the beginning of February´.
