West grateful for Kiefer Racing opportunity

Anthony West will be one of the main changes for 250cc´s Kiefer Racing Team in the 2006 season. The Australian, who will have German Dirk Heidholf as teammate on an Aprilia bike, will try and assert his authority in the World Championship after a disappointing 2005 as an official KTM rider.

The experienced rider is grateful for having been given the chance to compete again in the World Championship, especially as he had only been initially assigned a test rider position by KTM.

"I had hoped to get a factory bike this year, but at the same time I'm thankful for getting the ride I've got. I'll ride the wheels off this bike and do the best I can. I've been in this position before a few years ago so I know what to expect."

Although he has been realistic about his Championship options, West wanted to underline the important challenge the private teams face against official riders.

"The factory bikes have more acceleration round the bends and better tyres, it´s always a big task to try and pass some of them. I have already managed to put myself on the podium as a privateer, and I hope I can repeat that achievement this year".
