WTR Blauer USA to battle on two fronts in 2006

San Marino´s WTR Blauer USA announced this Wednesday that Italians Michele Pirro and Michele Danese would be their riders in the 125cc and 250cc categories for the coming season.

Pirro, who had a discreet 2005 season, is confident that in 2006 he can demonstrate the qualities that enabled him to become European champion and runner up in the Italian competition two seasons ago.

"I am very happy to be a part of this team, because after having won in Europe in 2004 I spent a very difficult 2005 with Malaguti in 125cc" stated Pirro. "I am grateful for this opportunity with WTR Blauer USA, who have rescued me, and I hope to repay them as soon as possible for the confidence they have placed in me. On my behalf, I have enough motivation needed to be one of the frontrunners in the 2006 season"

The team intend to travel to Spain in the next few days in order to start the practice schedule with Pirro, before the March arrival of the Official Tests.

Michele Danese, who was initially set to ride for Angaia Racing, will now make his 250cc debut under the WTR Team Blauer USA banner. The 23 year old rider had his first quarter litre experience in the Dutch Grand Prix, where he stepped in for the injured Taro Sekiguchi in the Campetella team. Throughout last year, Danese took part in the United States and Canadian 125cc Championships.

"The experience in America was undoubtedly very useful" Danese explained. "I returned to Europe to run in Assen, and that broke my rhythm a little. Once in Europe I didn´t go back to America and have been participating in some races in the Italian Championship. At the start of February we´ll head off to Spain to do the first test, and with the start of the season in sight we´ll prepare ourselves as best we can"

Loris Castellucci, team manager, expressed his satisfaction with the project and the excitement with which they will face their latest challenge.

"This agreement is an important step for the team, because participating in two categories as hard as 125 and 250cc is a big effort. The quarter litre category is a new experience for us all and it won´t be easy, but we hope to do well with our sights set on 2007. In 125cc we intend to play an important role in the coming season."
