Great Britain GP: Practice

This weekend the Re-Live section travels to Donington Park, a circuit which played host to one of the most exciting and spectacular races of the season, with the presence of dark skies and heavy rain turning the race into a battle for the riders not just between each other but against the tricky British Grand Prix track.

This Saturday we review the 2005 Donington qualifying sessions.

In the MotoGP class, Valentino Rossi smashed the circuit record by more than eight tenths of a second, thus obtaining another pole position in front of Fausto Gresini´s riders Sete Gibernau and Marco Melandri.

In 250cc, Dani Pedrosa knocked more than half a second off Donington´s previous fastest time for the category, snatching pole from a Jorge Lorenzo who had been one of the more incisive riders. Alex de Angelis and Andrea Dovizioso completed the front row behind the Majorcan.

Finnish KTM rider Mika Kallio was to achieve his first pole of the season, the fastest time in qualifying allowing him to lead a front row ahead of Mattia Pasini, Marco Simoncelli and the Swiss Thomas Luthi.
